Introduction

Formed in 1990 with 2 surveyors and one admin member, Cooke Rudling grew in 6 years to 20 staff and increased it's first year turnover ten fold.

Norman Turner joined the practice in 1993 and bought into the partnership in 1998, having introduced a number of blue chip clients and major development schemes.

Included within the schemes was the prestigious "Park Lane" Redevelopment at Wednesbury West Midlands which extended to over a million square feet of retail, leisure, warehousing trade centre and residential development.

Norman effectively became managing partner on the departure of one of the original partners in 1998 and agreed to purchase the equity of the remaining original partner in 2001.

Following the departure of the original partner in 1998 the business was in need of re -structuring but maintained turnover at improving levels with overheads reduced by 50%


Summary

Cooke Rudling represents a good example of organic growth within the consultancy field. Growth in professional consultancy is so frequent via acquisition but the company outstripped even its more acquisitive competitors.

By providing quality service, honest advice and a high degree of expertise the company won the respect of clients and competitors alike.

Cooke Rudling became easily the most active independent firm of rating surveyors in their home city of Birmingham and has probably the strongest brokerage presence in the nearby industrial region known as the "Black Country"

Introduction

Queensway House Limited was formed in 1999 as a joint venture between Norman Turner together with the other partners of Cooke Rudling and Simon Ford previously Managing Director of Triplex Properties Plc.

Norman and Simon had work in a consultant/client relationship for over 10 years prior to the formation of Queensway House Ltd.

Together the two principals had work on major schemes such as Hale Trading Estate and Park Lane as well as a number of design and build projects such as Foxes night club one of the largest such purpose built venues in
the UK.

Queensway house is now actively pursuing a number of development opportunities with joint venture partners such as Morrison Plc. Weavers Plc and McAlpine, together with a number of smaller solo ventures.

Presently under consideration are a number of city living and loft apartment schemes in Birmingham, Stafford and Leicester with approaching 150 units planned
